Children, Schools and Families Scrutiny Committee - Monday, 24th February, 2025 6.30 pm
This meeting was scheduled to receive updates about a range of services provided to children, young people and families in Camden. Topics included how the Council and Camden Learning were scheduled to support schools in meeting the needs of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, in improving school attendance, and how they had been supporting children in care. The meeting was also scheduled to receive an update about the performance of Camden schools, including test and examinations results for the 2023-24 academic year. Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) - Thursday, 6th February, 2025 6.00 pm
This meeting was to consider the adoption of a new protocol for SACRE, feedback on Camden's 2023-2024 Annual Report and to receive an update on the work of the Camden Faith Forum. It was also scheduled to discuss the adoption of a new monitoring process, a grant application from the Westhill/NASACRE for an RE project run with Camden schools and to receive an update from the Department for Education (DfE) on RE staffing and student outcomes in Camden's Secondary Schools.
Children, Schools and Families Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 14th January, 2025 6.30 pm
This meeting was about the performance of services for children in care in Camden. The committee was provided with an annual report on the performance of the Corporate Parenting Service and its key priorities for the year ahead. There was also a report on the experiences of the 'Virtual School' for children in care, and a progress update on the recommendations made by young people in 2023 about their experiences of social care meetings. A report on Camden’s interconnected programmes of work for supporting families with children of all ages was also provided. Finally, the committee was also asked to note their work programme for the year.
Extraordinary meeting, Council - Monday, 20th January, 2025 6.00 pm
This meeting was called following a request by five councillors to discuss the Housing Ombudsman Service's recent report on Camden Council. The Ombudsman's report is highly critical of Camden's Housing Repairs service. It makes a series of recommendations on how the service can be improved.
Council - Monday, 20th January, 2025 7.00 pm
This meeting was the first of 2025 for the full Council of Camden Council. It was scheduled to include a petition presented by the Camden Palestine Solidarity Campaign, a themed debate about how Camden Council works with partners and institutions, an update on the Council’s response to the Government’s consultation on the 10 Year Health Plan for England, a report on the proposed Council Tax Support scheme, the proposed Contract Standing Orders, the Council Tax and Business rates bases, and the responses to written questions submitted by Councillors for the previous Council meeting.
