Staffing Policy Committee - Tuesday 2 September 2025 2.00 pm
The Staffing Policy Committee met to discuss several key HR policies and updates. The committee approved amendments to policies regarding compensatory rest, annual leave, and probationary periods, and also approved a new employee volunteering scheme policy. Members also received updates on the council's apprenticeship programme, the No Excuse for Abuse of Our Staff
campaign, the 2025 employee experience survey, and the upcoming Employment Rights Bill.

The Appeals Sub-Committee (School Transport) of Wiltshire Council met on 28 August 2025 to consider a school transport appeal. The meeting was scheduled to begin with the election of a chairman. The Wiltshire Council Appeals Sub-Committee (School Transport) met on 28 July 2025 to consider one school transport appeal. The panel upheld the officer's report that there was no legal obligation to provide free transport to Abbeyfield School but agreed to provide a public bus pass from Wootton Bassett to Chippenham for the next two years of the child's education, as well as an allowance for petrol costs from Cricklade to Wootton Bassett. Councillor Elizabeth Threlfall was elected as Chairman for the appeal.

Wiltshire Council met on 22 July 2025, and among the topics discussed were youth services, treasury management, a bat mitigation strategy, and a motion to repudiate the council's climate emergency declaration. Councillors also debated and voted on motions regarding weight limits on roads and the Ask Angela scheme.
Children's Select Committee - Wednesday 16 July 2025 10.30 am
The Children's Select Committee met on 16 July 2025, to discuss Ofsted judgements, school attendance, the Schools Forum, the Corporate Parenting Panel, youth homelessness, educational performance, out of county education and the committee's forward work programme. The committee agreed to continue to receive the school Ofsted judgements as a regular report, and also agreed to receive a briefing on the new inspection framework. The committee also agreed to continue to receive the Working Together to Improve School Attendance report, and requested that longer term trends and a separate report on exclusions and trends be included.
