Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education - Wednesday, 3rd December, 2025 2.00 pm
The Standing Advisory Council for Religious Education (SACRE) of Cornwall Council convened to address key aspects of religious education and collective worship within the region's schools. The agenda included a review of the SACRE's budget, and consideration of an improvement plan aimed at enhancing religious education standards and community cohesion. Additionally, the council was scheduled to discuss membership and receive updates on the approved syllabus.
Together for Families Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 19th November, 2025 10.00 am
The Together for Families Overview and Scrutiny Committee was scheduled to meet to discuss a range of topics, including the mid-year review of the committee's work programme, an update on the framework for the Inspection of Local Authority Children's Services (ILACS), and the SEND Strategic Plan (formerly the SEND Transformation Plan). The Cornwall Schools Forum met on 17 October 2025 to discuss school funding arrangements for the 2026/27 financial year, including block transfers from the schools block to other areas, the use of Dedicated Schools Grant funding to support central running costs, and the implementation of exceptional circumstances factors within the funding formula. The forum was also scheduled to receive verbal updates on membership, the SEND Strategic Plan and Joint SEND Commissioning Strategy, the Pupil Growth Formula for 2026/27, and progress against the work plan.
Together for Families Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 1st October, 2025 10.00 am
The Together for Families Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss several key issues affecting children and families in Cornwall, including child poverty, adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and home to school transport. The committee reviewed the Director of Public Health's annual report on child poverty and recommended that the Cabinet approve both the Cornwall Joint SEND Commissioning Strategy and the Cornwall SEND Strategic Plan, with an ambition to reach 100% compliance. They also discussed the progress of Curriculum Kernewek and home to school travel assistance.
