The Council agreed to reduce the maximum level of support available through the Local Council Tax Support Scheme 2025-26 from 100% to 80% and agreed to reduce the time before charging a Council Tax Premium to unfurnished and unoccupied properties from 2 years to 12 months. They also noted the appointment of Councillor Sandra Bauer as the new Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities, and voted to adopt a motion on protecting leaseholders from the cost of fire safety remediation work.

Schools Forum

Schools Forum - Wednesday, 15th January, 2025 6.00 pm

The Schools Forum was scheduled to discuss the allocation of the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) for 2025-26. In particular the meeting was due to discuss the Dedicated Schools Grant budget strategy for 2025-26, the latest funding arrangements for 2025-26 announced by the DfE, and the preferred option for the 2025-26 National Funding Formula for Schools. The forum was also due to note the current position of the Dedicated Schools Grant for 2024-25.

The Forum was also scheduled to vote on whether to extend the terms of their own members from 2 years to 4 years.

The Council welcomed two new Councillors following recent by-election successes, offered its condolences following the death of former Councillor John Cartwright, and agreed to note five petition responses and the answers to 36 written questions. The Council adopted a new gambling policy and noted the Royal Borough of Greenwich Strategic Risk Register, the Treasury and Capital Strategy mid-year update, and a revised constitution.
