Southwark Council Assembly met to discuss resident's rights, ethical investments, and local funding, among other items. The council approved changes to its committee structure and investment strategy, and reappointed an independent advisor. Motions were passed regarding fairer funding, ethical investments, improvements to Peckham Rye Station, and Thames Water.

Overview & Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday 8 October 2025 6.30 pm

The Overview & Scrutiny Committee were scheduled to meet to discuss community safety, major works on the Chilton Grove Estate, and responses to recommendations arising from scrutiny of major works on the Consort Estate. They were also scheduled to discuss and agree annual work programmes for the Overview & Scrutiny Committee and its commissions for the 2025/26 municipal year.

Education and Local Economy Scrutiny Commission - Monday 6 October 2025 7.00 pm

The Education and Local Economy Scrutiny Commission met on 6 October 2025 to discuss the management of the council's commercial property portfolio, youth services, and the commission's work programme for the coming year. The meeting also included a review of the cabinet's response to previous scrutiny reviews and recommendations.

Pensions Advisory Panel - Tuesday 23 September 2025 11.30 am

The Southwark Council Pensions Advisory Panel is scheduled to meet on Tuesday 23 September 2025 to discuss a range of topics related to the management and performance of the council's pension fund. These include updates on investment performance, responsible investment, and the fund's carbon footprint, as well as more general updates on pensions services and cash management policy. Some of these items will be discussed in closed session, excluding the press and public.

Ordinary meeting, Council Assembly - Wednesday 9 July 2025 7.00 pm

At a meeting of the Southwark Council Assembly, Councillor Sarah King was elected as the new Leader of the Council, and the cabinet will remain unchanged at present. Councillors debated a motion on community safety, and also discussed motions relating to welfare cuts, making space for girls in parks, a tourist tax, and limiting gambling premises. The assembly also approved a waiver for Councillor Maggie Browning's attendance due to maternity leave, and reviewed the Treasury Management Outturn report for 2024-25.
