Planning Committee - Wednesday, 4th February, 2026 7.00 pm

The Planning Committee of Sutton Council met on Wednesday 4 February 2026 to discuss several planning applications. The committee granted planning permission for a single-storey rear extension at 11 Overhill Road, Sutton, and approved amendments to an existing planning permission for 1 Wildes Cottages, Ewell Road, Cheam, to allow for an internal garage and other alterations. The committee also granted planning permission for the significant London Cancer Hub development on Cotswold Road, a hybrid application seeking detailed permission for Phase 1 and outline permission for future phases.

The Council meeting on 26 January 2026 addressed several key issues, including financial governance of major projects, efforts to tackle bowel cancer, plans for job creation and affordable housing, and the retention of the council's committee system. A significant debate also took place regarding the future of the Beddington Energy Recovery Facility.

The Licensing Sub-Committee is scheduled to consider a new premises licence application for Rose Hill Bowling Club. The committee will also review the procedure for licensing hearings.

The Licensing Sub-Committee is scheduled to consider a new premises licence application for Chicken World. The committee will also review the standard procedure for licensing hearings.

Strategy and Resources Committee - Monday, 8th December, 2025 7.00 pm

The Strategy and Resources Committee met on 8 December 2025, and among other things, decided not to proceed with the Genr8 Kajima Regeneration Ltd (GKRL) bid for the Sutton Civic and Town Centre Regeneration, but will continue to develop proposals for housing on the current Civic Centre site and review options for relocating services within the town centre. The committee also approved a contract with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud data centre services and noted the Resilience Standards for London Self Assessment 2025.
