The Newham Council Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss commonhold tenure, strategic housing delivery, and updates from scrutiny chairs. The committee agreed to note a report on strategic housing delivery, but clarified that this did not constitute a formal consultation.

Audit Committee - Wednesday 30th April 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Audit Committee met to discuss the annual review of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA), accounting policies, the annual report of the audit committee, and the year ahead forward plan. The committee approved the accounting policies for 2024/25 and noted the contents of the RIPA policy review, the audit committee annual report, and the year ahead forward plan. The committee also discussed the council's exceptional financial support (EFS) and its implications for the audit committee.

Standards Advisory Committee - Tuesday 29th April 2025 6.00 p.m.

The Standards Advisory Committee was scheduled to meet to discuss its work programme, ethical framework, and member development programme. The committee was also expected to consider its annual report to the annual meeting of the council.

Council - Monday 28th April 2025 7.00 p.m.

The Newham Council meeting on 28 April 2025 focused on the theme of Our Young People, Our Future. Councillors discussed and approved a report outlining the council's commitment to young people, debated motions related to youth services and safety, and heard updates from partner organisations and cabinet members. The council also approved the submission of a new local plan.
