Council - Wednesday 10th September, 2025 7.00 pm

The City of Westminster Council met on 10 September 2025, and began by electing Councillor Hamza Taouzzale as Relief Chair for the meeting. Councillors then heard questions from the public on topics ranging from policing to street lighting, and debated issues including pedestrianisation of Oxford Street, homelessness, and street cleaning. The council also received and noted the Annual Report of Policy and Scrutiny Activity in 2024/25 and the Annual Report of the Audit and Performance Committee 2024/25.

Planning Sub-Committee (2) - Tuesday 2nd September, 2025 6.30 pm

The Planning Sub-Committee (2) convened on 2 September 2025, to discuss a range of planning applications and a tree preservation order. The committee granted conditional permission for a capsule hostel at Charles House, 7 Leicester Place, and for demolition and extension works at 103 Clifton Hill. They also chose not to confirm a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) for a tree at 51 Hamilton Terrace. However, the committee refused permission for a roof extension at 9 Churton Place.

Planning Sub-Committee (2) - Tuesday 22nd July, 2025 6.30 pm

The Planning Sub-Committee (2) of Westminster Council met on 22 July 2025 to consider five planning applications. These included a major development at Hanover Square and several smaller applications relating to properties in the Belgravia and Soho Conservation Areas.

Young People, Learning and Employment Policy and Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday 15th July, 2025 6.30 pm

The Young People, Learning and Employment Policy and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the upcoming work programme, review the draft Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Strategy for 2025-2030, and address the rising costs of providing care for children with complex needs. The committee approved the draft SEND strategy and made recommendations to address the financial demands on the council for children with SEND and complex needs.

Strategic Planning Committee - Tuesday 8th July, 2025 6.30 pm

The Strategic Planning Committee is scheduled to meet on 8 July 2025 to consider three planning applications. These include a large residential development at 291 Harrow Road, a refurbishment and extension of 171 Victoria Street, and management plans for a mixed-use development at 19-35 Baker Street.
