Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 7th October, 2025 4.30 pm

The Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the Local Authority Social Services Annual Report, eliminate profit from care, and the Education and Lifelong Learning Inclusion Strategy. The committee agreed to send letters to Councillor Ash Lister, Cabinet Member for Children's Services and Tackling Poverty and Supporting Young People, and Councillor Sarah Merry, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Education, outlining their views and requesting further information.

The Cardiff Council met to discuss a range of issues, including the annual well-being report, senior management arrangements and budget updates. Councillors also debated a controversial motion on asylum seekers, which was ultimately defeated, and showed strong support for keeping professional rugby in Cardiff.

Community & Adult Services Scrutiny Committee - Monday, 15th September, 2025 4.30 pm

The Community & Adult Services Scrutiny Committee met to discuss adult services, the care workforce, and antisocial behaviour in Cardiff. The committee agreed to a draft work programme for 2025-26, with amendments to include further scrutiny of physical disability, learning disability, older people's services, community safety, and care home commissioning. The committee will write to Councillor Leonora Thomson, Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Public Health & Equality, and Councillor Thorne, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, to convey their observations and concerns.
