Council - Wednesday, 21st January, 2026 7.30 pm

The Council meeting on Wednesday 21 January 2026 was largely dominated by a debate over an urgent motion concerning Mercury Land Holdings, which ultimately led to the adjournment of most business. After extensive procedural discussions and votes, the council agreed to defer the remaining agenda items to a future date.

Pensions Committee - Tuesday, 9th December, 2025 7.00 pm

The Havering Council Pensions Committee was scheduled to meet to discuss the fund's valuation, performance, and climate-related disclosures, as well as updates on the government's Fit for the Future proposals for the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). The committee was also expected to consider the initial results of the 31 March 2025 triennial valuation and a draft Funding Strategy Statement (FSS).

Governance Committee - Wednesday, 26th November, 2025 7.00 pm

The Governance Committee of Havering Council convened to discuss several key issues, including polling place changes, constitutional reviews, staff member voting rights on the Pensions Committee, and the governance of Mercury Land Holdings (MLH). The committee endorsed a change to a polling place, recommended constitutional amendments for approval by the full council, and agreed to allow voting rights for a staff representative on the Pensions Committee. Additionally, the committee requested a briefing on the governance and direction of MLH.

Council - Wednesday, 19th November, 2025 7.30 pm

The Havering Council meeting included discussions on tree inspections, the Romford Police Station front desk closure, and support for Zane's Law[^2], as well as the approval of the East London Joint Waste Plan submission. Councillors also addressed petitions and member questions on local issues.

The agenda for the Pensions Committee meeting included discussion of the investment consultancy services, a review of the custodian and actuarial service, the annual report, risk register and governance compliance statement.
