Children and Education Scrutiny Sub-Committee - Thursday, 17th October, 2024 6.30 p.m.

The Children and Education Scrutiny Sub-Committee discussed progress on the council's Family Hubs, preparations for an upcoming Ofsted inspection, and preparations for a separate inspection of the council's Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) provision.

Overview & Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 15th October, 2024 6.30 p.m.

The Committee noted the Council’s progress on the Local Government Association's (LGA) Corporate Peer Challenge (CPC) Action Plan and its performance in the first quarter of the 2024/25 financial year. It also discussed the Council’s performance on tackling rent arrears, its Youth Justice Plan and the Cumulative Impact Assessment (CIA) Policy for licensed premises.

Strategic Development Committee - Wednesday, 9th October, 2024 6.30 p.m.

The meeting made decisions on three planning applications. Two deferred applications were granted and one deferred application was again deferred.

Licensing Sub Committee - Tuesday, 8th October, 2024 6.30 p.m.

The Licensing Sub Committee approved a new premises licence for Rotunda Cafe in Island Gardens to sell alcohol on and off the premises between 08:00 and 17:00. The committee also approved a new premises licence for 7A Ezra Street to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises until 23:30, Monday to Saturday, and until 19:30 on Sunday.

Council - Wednesday, 2nd October, 2024 7.00 p.m.

The meeting approved the creation of a Mayor's Winter Emergency Fund to provide financial support to pensioners ineligible for the scrapped Winter Fuel Allowance payments, and approved time-banded waste collection regulations. Two motions were also debated, one from the Administration on winter fuel payments and another from the Labour group about the council's homelessness accommodation placement policy.
