Young People, Learning and Employment Policy and Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday 16th September, 2025 6.30 pm

The Young People, Learning and Employment Policy and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss supported internships and the transformation of services for children with disabilities. Councillors reviewed how the council attracts applicants and employers to supported internships and employment opportunities. The committee also scrutinised the proposals to transform services for children with disabilities.

Council - Wednesday 10th September, 2025 7.00 pm

The City of Westminster Council met on 10 September 2025, and began by electing Councillor Hamza Taouzzale as Relief Chair for the meeting. Councillors then heard questions from the public on topics ranging from policing to street lighting, and debated issues including pedestrianisation of Oxford Street, homelessness, and street cleaning. The council also received and noted the Annual Report of Policy and Scrutiny Activity in 2024/25 and the Annual Report of the Audit and Performance Committee 2024/25.

Staff Appeals Sub-Committee - Friday 8th August, 2025 10.00 am

The Westminster Council Staff Appeals Sub-Committee met on Friday 8 August 2025 to consider an appeal from a former employee. Councillor Maggie Carman, Deputy Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Supported and Specialist Housing, Councillor Robert Eagleton, Deputy Cabinet Member for Housing, and Councillor Tim Barnes, Deputy Leader of the Opposition, were in attendance.

Young People, Learning and Employment Policy and Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday 15th July, 2025 6.30 pm

The Young People, Learning and Employment Policy and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the upcoming work programme, review the draft Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Strategy for 2025-2030, and address the rising costs of providing care for children with complex needs. The committee approved the draft SEND strategy and made recommendations to address the financial demands on the council for children with SEND and complex needs.

Council - Wednesday 25th June, 2025 7.00 pm

At a meeting of Westminster Council, Councillor Nickie Aiken was made an Honorary Alderman, and councillors debated a range of issues including school mergers, service charge increases, adult social care funding, cycle route safety, and housing priorities. Councillors also approved constitutional changes and an amendment to member allowances for 2025-2026.
