Urgent Decision, Portfolio Holder Decisions/Leader Decisions - Friday 10 October 2025 12.00 pm

Councillor Wayne Briggs, Portfolio Holder for Education, agreed to launch a consultation regarding the expansion of The Avon Valley School and Performing Arts College. The consultation, which will run from 13 October to 14 November 2025, is required due to an urgent need for more Year 7 places and specialist resourced provision in the area. The decision was made under the council's urgency procedure to ensure that capital works can be completed by Autumn 2027, if approved.

Portfolio Holder Decisions/Leader Decisions - Friday 3 October 2025 2.00 pm

Councillor Wayne Briggs, Portfolio Holder for Education, has approved a consultation on the establishment of a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) resourced provision at Holy Trinity CofE Primary School in Stratford-upon-Avon. The consultation, set to run from 13 October to 16 November 2025, is a statutory requirement for altering SEN provision at mainstream schools. The resourced provision aims to support up to eight primary-aged pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

County Council - Tuesday 23 September 2025 10.00 am

The Warwickshire County Council met to discuss a range of issues, including petitions relating to local concerns, funding for bus services, highway improvements, and a declaration of a special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) emergency. Councillors also debated motions on highways and investment in walking and cycling infrastructure.

Children & Young People Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday 16 September 2025 10.00 am

Portfolio Holder Decisions/Leader Decisions - Friday 12 September 2025 1.30 pm

In a meeting held on 12 September 2025, Warwickshire County Council's portfolio holders made decisions regarding education and highways. Councillor Wayne Briggs, Portfolio Holder for Education, approved consultations for expanding Whitestone Infant School and Chetwynd Junior School, as well as establishing a special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) resourced provision at Race Leys Infant School. Councillor Stephen Shaw, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Finance and Property, approved a developer-funded highway improvement scheme on Smarts Road, Bedworth. Finally, Councillor Jennifer Warren, Portfolio Holder for Transport and Planning, approved the installation of raised tables with pedestrian refuges on Adelaide Road and Avenue Road in Leamington Spa.
