About

The Staff Governance Committee acts as a consultative forum for discussions between management, elected members, and trade unions on staff matters, aiming to foster a modern public sector workplace culture. It supports the council in becoming an employer of choice by promoting positive values, behaviours, training, and recruitment.

This committee also functions as a safety committee under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, reviewing measures to ensure employee health and safety and facilitating communication and cooperation on these matters. It approves strategic workforce plans, all staff policies, and health, safety, and wellbeing policies, while also monitoring employment equality and receiving performance data to track staff wellbeing.
