Decision

WBC Cabinet Member for the Environment: I approve the award of a contract to the successful tenderer, Mountjoy Ltd, to undertake the refurbishment of the public conveniences and construction of the Changing Places facility for the sum of £385,085.84.

Adur Cabinet Member for Leisure & Environment: I am happy to abstain from this decision as it is essentially a Worthing matter.

Reasons for the decision

WBC Cabinet Member for the Environment: I approve this decision to engage Mountjoy Ltd to undertake the major internal overhaul of the existing High Street car park public toilets. Planning permission has been granted and the decision ensures the Council fulfils the terms of the Changing Places grant, enabling the start of these much needed, modern and equitable refurbishments.

Alternative options considered

A feasibility study was prepared that considered 4 options. Of these, option B best addresses the Equalities Act and provides a dedicated parent and baby/child facilities and reduces maintenance issues relating to ASB.
