Decision

To procure a replacement jet-wash vehicle used to clean streets of graffiti, general grime, cleaning of bus shelters and any other tasks required, at a cost of £87k +vat to replace the existing vehicle.  The replacement vehicle will be an EV and will be maintained by our in-house fleet workshop.

Reasons for the decision

The existing vehicle is becoming unreliable and is beyond the planned replacement date of 2021/22.  The vehicle is crucial to the street cleansing operation to jet wash surfaces, bus shelters and remove graffiti. Replacing the existing diesel vehicle with an EV will also contribute to the decarbonisation of the fleet.

Alternative options considered

Not replacing the vehicle is not an option as it provides a critical frontline service.

The decision to replace with an electric vehicle is being pursued as we work to our net zero target by 2030.
