To agree to the proposed season ticket tariff changes in a number of Worthing surface car parks.
To make consequential amendments to the Order arising from the authorisations given in this report.
Reasons for the decision
WBC Cabinet Member for Economy & Regeneration:
I have considered the report and support the proposed tariff changes. The proposed increase ensures the council's parking service remains financially sustainable, enabling continued investment in and maintenance of the borough's parking infrastructure, while contributing to the delivery of wider council priorities and services.
ADC Cabinet Member for Economy & Regeneration:
I have considered the report and support the proposed tariff changes. The recommendations provide a balanced approach that maintains competitive parking charges while supporting investment in parking infrastructure, the Council's budget and wider priorities, including sustainable transport and the local economy.
Alternative options considered
WBC Cabinet Member for Economy & Regeneration:
The option of making no changes to parking tariffs, or applying a lower level of increase, was considered. These options would not provide sufficient additional income to help meet the increasing costs of operating and maintaining the council's parking service or support the council's approved budget. I therefore support the recommendations set out in the report.
ADC Cabinet Member for Economy & Regeneration:
I have considered the options set out in the report and am satisfied that the recommended approach is proportionate, maintains competitive parking charges and supports continued investment in Worthing's parking facilities.
