About

The Planning, Protective Services and Licensing Committee is responsible for a wide range of regulatory functions for Argyll and Bute Council, including planning applications, licensing, and public protection.

This committee determines applications for planning permission, including major developments and local developments where there are significant objections. It also handles applications for listed building consent, conservation area consent, and hazardous substance consents. The committee is authorised to make, review, amend, or revoke orders, rules, or byelaws, and to determine applications for various licences. Its remit also covers public protection legislation related to food safety, health and safety, environmental protection, animal health, consumer protection, and the control of poisons and explosives.
