To instruct Legal Services to prepare and award car park drainage and resurfacing contract to the Most Economical Tender following evaluation.

Reasons for the decision

To keep our car parks in safe and operational condition a programme to resurface 4 car parks and one hard stand adjacent to a public toilet will be delivered this financial year. Two of the car park will undergo major drainage redesign as the existing systems are inadequate for current climate conditions or have failed entirely.

Working with Hampshire County Council using the West Sussex County Council Framework bidders were invited to submit their quotations via InTend Portal.

Two contractors have provided quotes by the closing date.

Edburton

Landbuild submitted the Most Economical Tender.

It should be noted that the contractors have advised the price submitted is subject to ever changing cost due to the conflict in the Middle East.

Alternative options considered

Do nothing, Not an option as flooding in some of these car parks is a H&S concern along with the general overall condition.

Defer to a later date, Not an option as timing of the car parks has impact on income and events planned through the year.

Seek alternative quotes, Not required as CSO’s have been followed and pricing is within budget.
