To serve a Notice to Quit on the tenant, Mr xx, to end the secure tenancy and recover possession of the property.

Reasons for the decision

It has been established that the tenant is no longer occupying the property as his only or principal home and is believed to have vacated and be residing elsewhere.

In accordance with the tenancy agreement, continued occupation as the main home is a requirement. As there is no evidence of intention to return and the tenant cannot be traced at the property, the Council is entitled to serve a Notice to Quit to bring the tenancy to an end.

Alternative options considered

No alternative options were considered appropriate. Attempts to contact the tenant and confirm occupation have not resulted in engagement, and the circumstances indicate abandonment of the property. Serving a Notice to Quit is the appropriate course of action under the tenancy conditions.
