About
The Standards Committee is responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct among Ashford Borough Council members and co-opted members, as well as advising town and parish councils and councillors on their codes of conduct. It advises the Borough Council on its own Code of Conduct and monitors its effectiveness, including the handling of complaints. The committee also reviews procedures for registering interests and declaring gifts, and oversees ethical governance arrangements. It has the power to grant dispensations from certain conduct rules and determines complaints about breaches of local protocols.
