Purpose
To approve the Joint Aids and Adaptations Policy for Babergh & Mid Suffolk District Councils
Decision
It was RESOLVED: -
- 1.1 That Cabinet approve option 1: To approve the policy - the Joint Aids and Adaptations Policy (Appendix 1).
- 2 That delegated authority be given to the Director of Housing with Portfolio Holder to make minor amendments to maintain compliance with legislation and best practice.
REASON FOR DECISION
So that the Council meets statutory obligations under the Equality Act 2010, Care Act 2014, and Housing Acts.
So that the Council Supported vulnerable residents, reducing hospital admissions and promoting independent living.
So that the Council provided a transparent, consistent approach across both councils, improving service quality and accountability.
Alternative Options Considered and Rejected:
Option 2: Reject the policy – Risks non-compliance with legislation, inconsistent service delivery, and reputational damage.
Option 3: Request amendments and defer approval – Delays implementation, prolonging current inefficiencies and tenant hardship.
