Purpose

To endorse the 24/25 Mid Suffolk Greenhouse Gas Report

Decision

It was RESOLVED: -

1. 1.1          That, the contents of the Annual Climate Report for 2025 and the GHG Emissions report 2024/25 at Appendix A of the report, be noted by Cabinet, prior to publication on the council’s website.

REASON FOR DECISION

In reviewing the progress towards our net zero commitments for council and area wide emissions the Cabinet would be provided with a more in depth understanding of the work taking place across council services. This will enable Members to review the progress being made in reducing carbon emissions and consider the available options and their trade-offs, the factors that affect decarbonisation, and the challenges and opportunities going forward.

Alternative Options Considered and Rejected:

To provide the most recent Climate and Greenhouse Gas Emissions reports so that Cabinet can track progress related to the climate emergency.

To not provide an update on the annual Climate report and Greenhouse Gas Emissions report. This option was not recommended
