Decision
Allocation of £235,899.90 Section 106 to facility repairs and refurbishments at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre.
Reasons for the decision
The proposed project is the delivery of a range of facility repairs and refurbishments at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre, including roof repairs, window replacement, external lighting.
The funding allocated is remaining District-wide Open Space and Social Infrastructure (OSSI) Section 106 reserved for capital improvements to major indoor sports (Sports Hall and Swimming Pool) facilities in Mid Suffolk. The remainder of the project will be funded through MSDC’s capital budget.
Works have been identified following the completion of a condition survey to the Leisure Centre, these works are required to extend the life of the building and complete urgent repairs such as roof leaks. On completion of the work this will benefit the community in providing a greater user experience of the services provided by the Leisure Centre.
The project will benefit users (69,291) and members (5,422) of Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre.
Section 106 applications are assessed by a Communities Officer in line with criteria and S106 obligations, signed off by Community Development and Grants Manager, Communities Manager Head of Service and at Director level where required.
Alternative options considered
Funding the project solely through Mid Suffolk District Council’s capital budget. This was rejected due to Section 106 funds being available which are limited to Sports Hall and Swimming Pool facility improvements in Mid Suffolk.
