Decision

RESOLVED
that Cabinet:-
 
CORPORATE FINANCE
PERFORMANCE
 

1.   
Note the £8.2M projected cost pressure on the
Council’s 2024/25 General Fund budget, a further
deterioration of £2.2M since Quarter 2; and
 

2.   
Note the ongoing cost pressures within
Children’s Social Care and the plans in place to mitigate
these pressures as far as is possible; and
 

3.   
Agree to receive further updates from Executive
Directors on the delivery of their service reviews/efficiency
savings and future spending plans, ensuring that these are managed
within agreed budget envelopes; and
 

4.   
Note that the updated MTFS presented to Members as
part of the 2025/26 budget setting process reflects the ongoing
impact of the pressures outlined in the report; and
 

5.   
Note the advice of the Director of Finance (S151
Officer) that services must manage within agreed resources given
the ongoing uncertainty pending the outcome of the
Government’s Spending Review and wider Local Government
Finance reforms; and
 

6.   
Note the Housing Revenue Account is forecast to
overspend by £0.3M; and
 

7.   
Approve the accounting write-off of historic bad
debts totalling £1.113M as detailed in the report [NB: all
debts remain liable for collection]; and

PERFORMANCE
 

8.   
Note the forecast position on the Capital Programme;
and
 

9.   
Note scheme slippage totalling £23.7M;
and
 

10.Approve the net increase in scheme costs of £1.5M;
and

the key messages from the Council’s Q3 Treasury Management
activities.
