Purpose

Review of the Existing Tree Risk Management Framework 2020 to 2025 to bring up to date with current requirements.

Decision

The Cabinet Spokesperson:

  1. Approve the revised Tree Management Framework as the Council’s formal policy for managing trees under its control, replacing the Tree Risk Management Framework 2020 to 2025.
  2. Confirm that public safety, statutory compliance and legal defensibility remain the Council’s primary considerations in tree inspection, risk assessment and maintenance decisions.
  3. Endorse a proportionate, risk-based approach which targets Council resources at the areas of greatest risk, need and public benefit.
  4. Approve the supporting policies and operational standards within the Framework to ensure consistent, transparent and accountable decision-making across the borough.
  5. Note that the revised Framework broadens the Council’s approach from tree risk management to wider tree management, while remaining focused on safety, affordability, practical delivery and value for money.
