Addendum to include additional work indicated required within scope

Decision

Following the identification by our external auditor of a need to investigate previous financial and governance decisions the Council appointed Grant Thornton UK Advisory & Tax LLP to undertake the financial investigation for an approximate total fee of £127k plus VAT.

Prior to this appointment, the Council approached several providers and progressed a quotes process which identified this supplier as providing a total estimated cost and able to provide a comprehensive approach addressing all Council requirements.

Due to the urgent nature of the work, it was deemed needed to be able to appropriately address the recommendations of the external auditor the Council chose to direct award to Grant Thornton UK Advisory & Tax LLP. Throughout this work it has been identified that further financial investigations are needed for an additional £40k plus VAT to fully address all concerns raised by the external auditor.
