The Scrutiny Committee reviews and scrutinises decisions and actions related to the Council's functions, excluding regulatory matters like licensing and planning. It monitors service performance and decision implementation, with the power to report and make recommendations to the Cabinet.
The committee also examines the performance of other public bodies operating in the borough, can request reports from them, and select topics for investigation to improve council services. It has the authority to call in decisions made by the Leader, Cabinet, and officers for reconsideration before they are implemented.
