Purpose

To agree entering into the Memorandum of Understanding with Hampshire County Council and the participating Hampshire district and borough councils for the collection, storage and disposal of abandoned vehicles in accordance with the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding

Decision

To approve Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council entering into the Memorandum of Understanding with Hampshire County Council and the participating Hampshire district and borough councils for the collection, storage and disposal of abandoned vehicles in accordance with the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding.

Reasons for the decision

Entering into the Memorandum of Understanding will enable the council to continue to discharge its statutory responsibilities effectively and efficiently through an established county-wide arrangement, providing value for money, operational resilience and compliance with legislative requirements.

Alternative options considered

Do Not Enter into the Memorandum of Understanding

This would require the council to establish and manage its own arrangements for the collection, storage and disposal of abandoned vehicles, potentially resulting in increased costs and reduced operational efficiency.
