Purpose
To install solar panels on the roof of offices at the Royal Victoria Park nursery site to reduce electricity costs and help decarbonise B&NES corporate estate. Electricity usage at Royal Victoria Park is increasing due to the electrification of park equipment which requires more electricity to charge the batteries.
Decision
To fully approve capital budget of £60k from the provisional capital programme for the Renewable Energy Development Fund.
Alternative options considered
Various options were assessed including doing nothing, however the agreed proposals will help decarbonise the estate and help meet the B&NES target of 12MW installed renewable capacity on its corporate estate by 2030.
