Purpose
The Council has received £540k grant for
the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme for Cleeve Court and Combe
Lea Care Homes. The purpose of the scheme is to decarbonise the
space heating and water heating through the replacement of the gas
boiler heating with air source heat pumps that have a significant
electricity demand but will utilise the recently installed rooftop
solar PV arrays thus reducing carbon emissions and exposure to
energy price fluctuations.
Decision
To fully approve capital amounting to
£790k funded from Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme Grant
of £540k and Corporate Borrowing of £250k.
Alternative options considered
Various options were assessed including doing
nothing, however the agreed proposals are likely to result in the
property being carbon neutral.
