Purpose

The Manvers Street Remediation Project aims to
identify and deliver concrete slab and foundation repairs which
will address long-term issues with a key part of Bath’s road
network. The project is funded by £5m of WECA’s
Challenge Maintenance Fund, of which £887k has been used to
cover feasibility and scoping work, identification of a proposed
solution and preliminary design.
The remaining funds require approval in order to appoint a
contractor to carry out final surveys, provide detailed design
services and deliver the works. These monies are provisionally
approved and need full approval so a budget can be created.

Decision

To fully approve spend of £4.113m to
enter into a contract for detailed design and remediation works at
Manvers Street. This will be funded by WECA’s Challenge
Maintenance Fund CRSTS.

Alternative options considered

To not proceed with the works at Manvers
Street, resulting in continued deterioration of the road surface
and foundation, requiring ad hoc repairs and regular road
closures.
