CCTV Camera Replacement - Phase 3 Building Cameras/Recorders
October 27, 2025 Director of Place Management (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
In consultation with Cabinet Member for
Communications and Communities, consideration has been given to
replacing internal building CCTV cameras for Bath and North East
Somerset Council owned buildings, updating the Council's current
camera estate to a more modern, efficient camera system.
The newer modern cameras will offer high-definition footage &
will consume less power, reducing operational costs. The newer
cameras will also need fewer repairs compared to outdated equipment
and will future proof against technological advancements.
The project will reduce the risk of security and procurement
concerns in respect of the council’s reliance on the previous
supplier.
Decision
To fully approve £356,000 of capital
budget, fully funded by Corporate Supported Borrowing
Alternative options considered
The alternative option is to do nothing. This
was not considered an option as would not reduce the Councils
reliance on the former provider and replacements will introduce an
updated technical solution for the CCTV infrastructure.
This approach offers a robust solution for current needs while
remaining adaptable to future technological advancements in the
industry
