Purpose
The Bath City Centre Phase 3 project —
now renamed the Bath Bus Infrastructure Improvements (BBIP) project
— aims to deliver an Outline Business Case (OBC) by March
2027. The project will focus on improving bus infrastructure within
Bath to enhance the reliability and efficiency of bus
services.
Bath’s current bus network is experiencing increasing delays,
longer journey times, and lower than expected customer
satisfaction. These issues are expected to worsen if no action is
taken, particularly in light of forecast housing growth identified
through the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) targets. The
BBIP project will therefore review and shortlist a package of
infrastructure options aimed at improving bus reliability and
addressing these challenges.
Decision
To accept grant award of £800k, fully
funded through the West of England Combined Authority’s
(WECA) City Regional Sustainable Transport Settlement
(CRSTS).
Alternative options considered
To not accept the £800k funding from
WECA and maintain the current network.
