Alternative options considered

Option 1: Do nothing would mean continued use of outdated end of life equipment, resulting in reduced occupant satisfaction & potential future health and safety issues. Therefore not considered to be a viable option.
Option 2: Partial Refurbishment - Carry out only essential works. Resulting in improved safety and compliance in key areas, but some outdated or non-optimal equipment may remain. Would be lower upfront costs compared to full outlined updates, but potential for ongoing issues in areas not addressed. Results in occupant experience improving slightly, but the building may still fall short of modern standards. If completed in phases this would impact on ability to continue to use the room & would be more disruptive. Dismissed as an option as fails to adequately address the key issues of modernisation and safety within the Carrswood building.
