Purpose

To deliver secure on-street cycle parking in the B&NES area, for up to 10 cycle hangars (which provide 60 cycle parking spaces in total). Cycle hangars are fixed storage lockers designed to hold up to six standard sized bicycles. People can rent a space in a hangar, which can only be accessed by lock and key.

Decision

To fully approve £103,361 of capital budget, fully funded by WECA Grant to deliver a minimum of 9 cycle hangars.

Alternative options considered

Option 1 - Do nothing & reject the funding allocation. This was not considered an option as if we did nothing the council's service users would miss the opportunity to benefit from the provision of lockable cycle parking.
Option 2 - (recommended) To fully approve the capital budget.
