Purpose

The Council is progressing the development of 16 supported homes for residents with learning disabilities at Englishcombe Lane. The project will provide high-quality, net-zero modern accommodation and support for members of our community who are sometimes forced to live far away from family and friends due to the lack of such a facility in our area.

This decision is to release an additional £440k of capital funding to proceed with detailed design to take the project to final business case, based on contractor quotes and submission of planning application.

To fully approve £440k of capital funding from the Provisional Capital Programme for Affordable Housing to progress scheme to final business case.

Alternative options considered

Not proceeding. However, not proceeding would reduce the Council’s ability to meet housing delivery requirements and statutory obligations to vulnerable residents.
