Purpose
On 11th April 2023 a decision was made to accept £3.04m of government Local Authority Housing Fund grant to secure 22 homes to provide sustainable housing for those unable to secure their own accommodation and who are here under specific schemes for people from Ukraine and Afghanistan.
Subsequent decisions released £2.062m of funding to progress the programme. This decision releases a further £1.545m of capital funding comprising of the remaining LAHF grant funding (£978k), Host Ukraine Tariff Funding (£300k) and the previously earmarked Homelessness Prevention (Ukraine) Fund (£267k) to purchase the final homes.
Decision
To approve funding of £1.545m of funding to progress the LAHF and complete securing 22 homes.
Alternative options considered
Do nothing and do not proceed with the scheme, losing the opportunity to provide 22 properties for vulnerable families; properties that will assist with meeting the Council’s statutory homelessness obligations.
