Description of Decision

(1)  That it be agreed to proceed with the scoping consultation for the Bedfordshire Minerals and Waste Plan.

(2)  That officers be authorised to undertake the consultation in accordance with the proposed timetable and consultation approach, including the associated call for sites relating to minerals and waste development.

(3)  That it be noted that the consultation responses will be considered as part of the continuing preparation of the Bedfordshire Minerals and Waste Plan and will inform subsequent stages of plan preparation.

Reason for Decision

To enable Officers to progress plan-making in line with the requirements of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning)

(England) Regulations 2026. These new regulations introduce additional procedural requirements and a revised timetable for

preparation and examination of local plans, including minerals and waste plans.

To consider the latest position on progress and the Council’s commitment in working towards delivery of the Bedford to Milton Keynes Canal and Waterway Park Project.
