About

The People and Communities Committee is responsible for developing and implementing strategies, policies, programmes, and projects to improve local life in Belfast, aligning with community and corporate plans.

This includes promoting health, safety, and well-being through local activities, and administering environmental health and building regulations. The committee also oversees waste management, recycling, and the disposal of commercial and domestic waste.

Furthermore, it manages parks, community centres, and public spaces, while exercising powers to improve local environmental quality, community safety, and address anti-social behaviour. It oversees frontline services such as cleansing, parks, and community services.
