About

The Member Development Steering Group provides strategic direction for the formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of development programmes for elected members. It oversees the member development budget and prioritises activities within the development plan, ensuring alignment with the Council's aims and objectives. The group also reviews training outcomes, promotes development opportunities, and fosters cross-party communication and the sharing of best practices. Its remit includes promoting diversity, accessibility, and continuous improvement, as well as agreeing the induction programme and maintaining the Member Development Charter.
