About

The Scrutiny Commission provides independent oversight of the Council's decisions and performance. It reviews and scrutinises the work of the Cabinet Executive and Council Officers, examining policy development, financial performance, and service delivery against objectives.

The commission can question elected members and officers, conduct research, and consult with the community. It makes recommendations to the Cabinet Executive or the full Council, and also reviews the performance of other public bodies and the local health service. Its role is advisory, aiming to improve council services and ensure community interests are considered.
