Purpose

The Council, acting as a Waste Disposal
Authority, is required to retender the contracts for waste
disposal, recycling treatment and disposal, as both the
aforementioned contracts end for June 2026. The Council has
contracts with the present successful contractor, Suez UK for waste
disposal, with the majority of the Council waste going to energy
from waste facilities sourced by Suez UK. Similarly, Suez UK
transfer the Councils recycling to a materials recycling facility
for separation and processing before sending onto various outlets
in the UK.

RESOLVED
 
That the Strategic Director of Finance and
Resources be authorised to initiate the recommended procurement
process to conduct a tendering exercise for the waste disposal,
recycling treatment and processing plus food waste treatment and
processing.
