Purpose
To seek
approval for officers to proceed with a temporary road closure
order for the
closure of
Church Street from its junction with Leopold Grove to the junction
of
Abingdon
Street and Abingdon Street form its junction of Birley Street to
the
junction
of Church Street (Area known as St Johns Square) pursuant
to
section 14
(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 in order to ensure
the
safety of
the public whilst the Britain’s Got Talent audition are being
held.
Decision
1.
To authorise the Head of Legal to make an
appropriate order under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and
subsequently display those notices in accordance with
legislation.
2.
To authorise, by way of temporary Section 14 (1) (b)
of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the following restrictions
:
a)
Church Street from its junction with Leopold Grove
to its junction with Abingdon Street; and
b)
Abingdon Street from its junction with Birley Street
to the junction of Church Street
c)
Suspend the pay and display parking bays and dual
use bays relating to Taxis and loading on Topping Street from its
junction with Church Street to its junction with Deansgate, the
restrictions are contained in the
“the Borough of Blackpool (Various Roads)
(Consolidation of waiting restrictions, on street parking places,
residents parking places and taxi stands) Order
2024”
