Purpose

The purpose of this report is
to seek approval for Blackpool Council to enter into Contract with
Balfour Beatty to deliver pre construction works for the Bispham
Coast Protection scheme. 
 

Decision

To approve the proposal for
Blackpool Council to enter into contract with Balfour Beatty for
the scheme that will enable the installation of groynes at the
Bispham Coast Protection scheme.  The
Authority has been allocated £61m for a scheme to install
rock groynes and carry out urgent repairs to the
seawall  to increase protection and
prevent erosion of the coast defences between in the  North Area of  
Blackpool  promenade, from Princes Way
to Redbank Road and between Gynn Square and Cocker
Square.
