Decision

The Executive agreed the recommendations as outlined above namely:

1. Having considered the case in this report, to endorse the principle of the submission of a bid to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport for the title of UK City of Culture 2029
2. To authorise the Leader of the Council to submit the Council’s bid to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.
3. To delegate authority to the Chief Executive, following consultation with the Leader of the Council, to develop and finalise the proposal to ensure submission before the deadline.
