Purpose

To seek approval for officers to proceed with a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order under section 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic on:

a) Church Street, from its junction with Leopold Grove to its junction with Abingdon Street; and

b) Abingdon Street, from its junction with Birley Street to its junction with Church Street,

being the area generally known as St Johns Square.

The proposed restrictions are required to safeguard the public during the Britain’s Got Talent 2026 auditions being held at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.

Decision

To approve the recommendations set out in section 2 of the report.

To authorise the Head of Legal to make and publicise the necessary Temporary Traffic Regulation Order under section 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

To authorise the implementation of the temporary road closures and suspension of parking restrictions for the periods and roads identified within this report.
