Purpose

To consider the future use of
St John’s Square in relation to vehicle access.
 

Decision

The Cabinet Member agreed the
recommendations as outlined above namely:
 

To
agree that St John’s Square remains open to buses and taxis,
with access for deliveries between 6pm and 10.30am and in doing so
make the existing “The Borough of Blackpool (Pedestrian and
Cycle Zone)(No Waiting Prohibitions) Town Centre (Map Based)
Experimental Order 2023“ permanent.
To
agree to work with the Business Improvement District (BID) in
relation to the following:

The development of a collectively agreed approach to activities
within the square;
The future provision of enforcement cameras;
Security measures related to the Protect Duty (Martyn’s
Law);
Accessibility for people with a disability and involvement of
local groups; and
Consideration of the physical environment and improvements that
can be made.
