About

The General Licensing Committee is responsible for licensing matters not covered by the Licensing Act 2003 or the Gambling Act 2005, which are handled by a separate committee. This includes taxi licensing, scrap metal sites and operators, and other matters under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982.

The committee generally considers policy matters and makes recommendations to the Council. It also acts as the General Licensing Sub Committee to decide on licence applications and other issues, such as breaches of licence conditions, that cannot be handled by council officers.
