Standards Committee

The Standards Committee oversees the conduct of councillors and ensures the council upholds high ethical standards. It manages the process for handling complaints made against councillors, with the Chair typically determining complaints after consulting with committee members, independent persons, and the Monitoring Officer. If necessary, an independent investigation can be commissioned, with its findings reported to the committee. The committee receives anonymised summaries of complaints to monitor their progress.
